Anthony Davis left the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Golden State Warriors after the first quarter Saturday night with a left eye contusion, the team announced.
When Davis was scoring on a layup, Warriors forward Trayce Jackson-Anthony Davis accidentally struck him in the face, causing injuries. For the following few minutes, he kept playing, but ultimately, he left the game and never came back. After the hit, Davis’s eye swelled shut and his vision became affected, an individual familiar with the issue. In order to establish his availability for Monday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, he will be watched over night and on Sunday.
With Davis playing 12 minutes, Los Angeles outscored Golden State by six points. The All-Star big man for the Lakers finished with 8 points on 3-for-6 shooting, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block. Backup big man Jaxson Hayes replaced Anthony Davis and finished with seven points and 12 rebounds in 28 minutes.
The Warriors (35-31) won 128-121 to inch ahead of the Lakers (36-32) by a percentage point — .530 to .529 — for ninth in the Western Conference standings.
